Playing around with a Cactus bud

My wife Carol has a cactus planted between the front door and the garage, so I see it every time I enter or exit the house. I finally decided to play around it. I wanted to do three things:

  1. test a J5 that I picked up 2 days ago
  2. compare the J5 to a V3 on the same subject
  3. see how much variation I could get in the background by moving only a bit

My conclusions:

  1. the new-used J5 works just like my other J5 bodies
  2. as expected the M5 is terrible with a long lens and in bright light for ease of use, but the results are nearly identical - especially in good light and at the sizes I normally use
  3. I was able to get two different green backgrounds plus a tan BG with only minor shifts in where I stood

All shots taken with the CX 70-300 tripod mounted and at minimum ISO.

V3. Background is a low shrub.

J5, same position and similar composition

V3. Background is more of the cactus.

J5. Background is typical Phoenix non grass yard.

Let me know what you think if you are so inclined.

You can see a lot just by looking.
