Moving my desktop - Place on it's side?

I'm going to be moving my desktop set up. It's a "tower." It may turn out to be convenient to place it horizontally. It has an ssd , dvd and one hard drive. The hard drive would have been running it's current orientation for almost two years. Drives can be run vertically or horizontally but wasn't sure if there might be a mechanical/reliability reason to not change orientation at this point. I almost never use the dvd and I have a portable external drive for use with my laptop if needed for some reason. I did a quick search and the only cautions I saw discussed that optical drives might not hold the media well on edge.

The alternative is removing the contents of a shelf or two on a storage unit, resetting the shelves, and loading it all back up so not earthshaking if placing the unit on it's side is potentially a problem.
