A common wisdom says "turn off the d8 setting for better low light focusing" (in first gen Zs). I say keep it ON. Instead, if you shoot RAW, push the picture control's sharpness sliders obscenely. Your camera's AF-brain sees the same picture you see in viewfinder, and enhanced local contrast around eyes works wonders. You'll be surprised.
