I know before, LRc catalogs used to slow down when they got too big. There's a way to run cleanup but instead of doing that, I started splitting up catalogs by year.

It's not a great system for most people, probably. The drawback is that if I am looking for a particular shoot, I don't always know what year I shot it. That means I might have to either drill down to the folders or open a couple of catalogs before I find what I am looking for. On the upside, switching catalogs is pretty fast so it doesn't bother me and it's not often I have to look for old pictures.

I keep final jpeg versions on Sharepoint and I backup to Backblaze.
