Hi all, I was wondering if any Wildlife shooters on here use the electronic shutter on the M6 Mark II, instead of the mechanical shutter ?. If so what are your experiences ?

Many thanks

eShutter is awesome when you don't want to disturb subjects with a shutter sound (esp close wildlife and birds, kids, churches, etc). Use it at will!

well as Gordon shows in his review, be careful with panning in e-shutter or motion with e-shutter

In all truthfulness I’ve never once had a shot ruined by rolling shutter effects with my M6ii.  Maybe it’s because I usually follow the generally-held guidelines re: eShutter.

I have however experimented with the various eShutter “burst modes” built into the M6ii, for moving subjects.  Such as Raw Burst Mode and even Focus Bracketing (the latter with minimal increment set).  Actually works quite well.

I do love using Focus Bracketing for macros, either for stacking or just selecting single frames (with AF enabled, or disabled).  Much more likely to capture the ideal focal plane!
