Undoing changes made to your computer

Windows has been nagging me to let it upgrade my win10 to win11. Today i said ok. The upgrade failed, it left me with a dead black screen. That's annoying. I immediately started thinking about how to restore my win10. But after a hard reboot it popped up with the message "Undoing changes made to your computer..." and after a few more minutes I was back home at win 10. All is well. I think I read Win11 keeps a copy of 10 around for a short period to let users back out.

So now I'm curious what was the shortcoming in my computer. Can anyone point me in direction of how to diagnose this failure, assuming that is possible? All the settings>update screen says is "we couldn't install this update, but you can try again. 0xc1900101"

If this has been asked I apologize.
