Comet Leonard and M3 - small scale astro
6

Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) is moving towards the globular cluster M3, and will pass the cluster at dec 3. Seems like the sky will be cludy here this morning.

When I took this wide field picture, the comet was about 8 degrees nortwest of M3. The M3 cluster and Leonard shined both at magnitude 6.3. The moon was almost half, and just 30 degrees away from the comet, and the sky was covered with some haze too.

Tracking platform, ordinary camera, 85 mm Loxia wide open at f:2.4. 8 x 30 sec exposures stacked. At least I got the comet, and hope for clear skies when Leonard is brightening to a naked eye object in the middle of December.

M3 (lower left) and comet Leonard (upper right) a moonlit night. Separation between the two is about 8 degrees.
