Everything the available cameras with high-res are doing could be done in post with more options. You can compare it with HDR function: there are one or two options built in, but in specialized software you can do much more.

So just take a bunch of identical pictures (manual mode, so 15sec or more is no problem) and put these into a software like Denoise professional 4. there are several options to stack identical pictures for landscape, astro etc.

As result you will get a new tiff file with more dynamic range, less noise and higher resolution (this is an option because of size and processing time).

The option from Pana or Oly build in works really good using tripod and static scenes. Also it is a simple process doing it and you will get a quite small raw as result from the camera.

At the end you have to decide which way is the best for you
