Thanks for the suggestion.   Nice photos on your website, you have a great style.

A prime is also helpful for shallow depth of field to have a wide prime available for sure.    I actually do have a Nikon D850 as well, but kind of ruled it out because of the weight, but certainly with the Nikon 50mm 1.4 on it, or even the 24-85mm f3.5-4.5, it would be manageable.

My only concern with too much reliance on a prime is for landscapes I'd likely want some wide lenses, and even though I could stitch, on these group hikes the rest of the group doesn't like waiting around while I futz with my camera.   Sometimes you just have to grab the camera, make a couple quick adjustments and shoot.   Not ideal, but it is what it is.   I'm often the straggler running to catch up to the rest of the group after spending too much time changing a lens, changing settings etc...
