What to take to Hawaii
1

I'm finding myself indecisive. For some time, my normal travel kit has been

  • Pentax 18-135mm (role: walk around day)
  • Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 (walk around night)
  • Sigma 30mm F1.4 Art (museums, churches, restaurants, etc.)

Next trip is now scheduled for Hawaii (the lord willin' and covid don't rise).

Question is, What lenses to take?

Replace 30mm with my old plastic fantastic 35mm F2.4? Screw drive, but the K-3miii makes me think I might get by with a slightly slower lens, and it seems to focus on the new camera just fine. It's a much smaller carry.

Replace Sigma 17-50mm with my new 20-40mm Limited? Again, smaller, and also WR, which the Sigma isn't; the rainy season in Hawaii is November–March.

I'm thinking of maybe a 4 lens pack this time: DA 35 F2.4, DA 20-40 Ltd, Sigma 17-50mm, and DA 18-135mm. But I've always had a problem with zipping up the camera bag without an F1.4 in there...

And I do hate to leave the 16-85mm at home. Maybe that instead of the 17-50 or 18-135? Doesn't have the reach of the latter, and not WR, but with the 20-40 along I could use that on days when we're expecting any showers.

Considering my kit and a 3-4 lens limit, any thoughts for a Hawaiian vacation pack?
