If compact is a factor then I'd guess limited primes are the alternative?

Have narrowed it down to the K1-ii and S5.

Weight and kit lens are in S5 favor..
Wondering what I would gain from K1ii

Primary use in priority

  • Compact, travel needs, has to be FF
  • DR, mostly do landscapes
  • IBIS
  • Occasional portraits indoors

If your looking for compact size then I spose the main argument in favour of the Pentax would potentially be using it with Limited primes were you can offset some of the body size with smaller lens size.

I shoot a D850 and a Voightlander 20mm and 40mm pancake setup is quite a low weight option that's decent for travel/landscape, indeed you can buy Pentax versions of those lenses as well as a Limited alternative although they don't autofocus.

I know Pentax's listed battery life isn't amazing but I suspect actually in use you would find its better than that due to the OVF not taking up power. If your using that a lot but not taking much video or reviewing shots you might find a K-1 beats an S-5 for battery life.
