Not just for street photography, slaps head with self in disgust. And I was feeling so guilty using the X 100f for travel and local scenes as well as street photography. You mean I don't have to feel guilty now? Thank you very much.

The X100 series are niche cameras, kind of like the Leica monochrome camera, another niche camera. Ricoh has shown you can have IBIS in a small package, I'm not anti-IBIS. But try and convince the Ricoh GR iii crowd their camera should be made larger. Report back here with your findings.

But I have the X T1, four primes and a zoom and my Canon 5D mk 4 with four primes and four zooms. I bought the X100f for its small well built package. Of course I could slap a 23mm on my X T1 and use it for street photos, but its larger and bulkier. I have used my 5D mk 4 and my past mk 2 for street photography but I always worried about theft (I use a Peak Design Cuff - wrist - strap to reduce theft potential).

As for the "ask people permission to take their photo," not really. Why? Do you know how many billion of photos I'm in, where I was in the background or beside or to the front and side of folks who were getting their pics taken with a phone camera. No one has ever asked me for permission to be in their photo. I lived in Montreal for Expo 67, do you have any idea of how many photos I'm in as another person was getting their photo taken and I was close to them. Or how about Expo 86 in Vancouver, or the Winter Olympics in Vancouver when I worked as a security manager at the curling venue then at the Whistler site for the Paralympics. Or just out and about walking the streets when tourists were photographing sites and friends in Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Jasper, Chicago, Madison, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria. Or on a Cruises.

Did Vivian Maier ask permission to photograph the people in Chicago, probably not if you have seen images from her collection (look her up).
