Shot at 14mm 1/80 sec F8 iso200 Process by Lightroom Classic

On the left has no processing except correction per lens profile from Adobe. I scale it down to 88% to show how the corners are stretched back to correct for the severe barrel distortion.

On the right is the final processed version. I corrected for some but not all the vertical perspective, darken the sky and increase red & orange saturation.

Before and after with Lightroom

100% crop of lower right edge Shot with R5

100% crop of lower right corner

Weather around here did not help me to make a test ... But your images confirm my experiences with the lens. Barrel distortion and mechanically blocked corners + vignetting look terrible in a RAW file. Results can/will after some corrections be just fine.

The same "problem" is visible when i used RF 24-105STM and in tests i have seen something similar with RF24-240. Obviously "new normal" in Canon lenses.

Modern times...

I wish I could find the posts where I predicted this, ten years ago or more. On the whole I think it's a good thing if it means smaller, lighter lenses*. The only problem it creates is the absolute necessity to have a lens profile compatible with the software you want to use.

*Cheaper too, but the RF 14-35 is not a great example of that!
