This has become my go-to camera for a lot of reasons. It does a lot of things right. One thing it does wrong is image stabilization - it's like it doesn't exist. I've triple checked settings and it should work, but I can't get anything decent at longer than about 1/30 second, and I can do that without stabilization. So it's essentially doing nothing.

Anybody else have this issue?

I definitely disagree. I think the advertised more aggressive IS is true.

I can shoot my rx100m6 handheld at 1/20th, and that is saying something, as I am unsteady and have been saying so here for 9 years now. I can shoot 1/30th with my rx100m3, and I had to learn and use S mode with my rx100m1 to force 1/60th minimum to achieve blur free handheld.

I haven't paid attention to near or full zoom, but I often use 100-150mm for close subjects (i.e. 6 ft away) to get nice shallow focus behind flowers, butterflies ... and get sharp primary subjects.

I don't view or print large so my 'sharp enough' might not match your expectations. In any case, for my use, relative to each other:

rx100m1,2 IS essentially non-existant.

rx100m3 ..., IS pretty good, big improvement over 1,2

rx100m6  IS darn good, even better than m3 ...
