I went from 7dMKII to the R6 and was blown away

Hello,

Recently I have been seriously considering buying the EOS R as an upgrade from my 7D Mark ii. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to truly understanding the different specs. From what I can understand the EOS R is a good bit better than the 7D Mark ii I have and use. So I'm here looking for advice.

Situation-

I recently started my side photography business. I am most likely going to do primarily portraits (Senior Pictures and Families) along with some product photography (friends with small businesses of there own). I also love just doing landscape and street photography as purely a hobby. Business isn't booming by any means but my full time job allows me to have a little extra cash for nicer gear if I can decide if it is worth upgrading.

Two of the main features, besides the better Mega Pixel count, that really draws me to the EOS R is the tilting screen and the fact that with a mirrorless I can pretty much see how the picture will look before I take the picture.

Another concern is that I already have a few EF lens. They are a mix of Canon and Tamron. I believe from what I've already read that the Tamron lens will work with the adaptor.

I know the R5 and R6 are out there but unless I really start to ramp up the business, I can't see any reason to make that price jump.

Any help I can get with my personal dilemma would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time in advance!

I made the move and am blown away by the capabilities of this camera.   The MKII focused very well for me but the eye focus and accuracy of the R6 IMO are light years ahead.   I love the focusing capability of mirrorless.   It's the camera I was waiting to come about and jumped on it and have never looked back.

That said, I think you're still in great shape with what you have right now but when it's time to upgrade, you won't miss having a DSLR.
