Thanks guys! Appreciate all the advice

Was planning to have the camera in a bag at all times, with a few extra batteries so think that will be okay. Good shout about the slow transitions from cold to warm - not something I would have thought of!

Was more worried about the camera having issues but it sounds like that won't be a problem!

Thanks once again friends!

The "HotHands" chemical hand warmers work great for keeping batteries warm (and your hands and feetĀ  ).

I love "The North Face" gloves for shooting.  The mid-level warmth models still allow feel of the buttons.  And most of them are touchscreen compatible.

You might want an oversize camera strap for fitting over big bulky coats.

Oh, and remember not to breathe (on the camera) when you bring the camera up to shoot, or when changing lenses.
