Straight Talk (I am not a PRO [paid in cash or kind!] reviewer~!!)

The unique X-S10 from Fujifilm has a freshly different design approach with nice solid grip (no need to add the 100+ Dollars metal L grip, camera has vari-angle LCD (doubles as protection for LCD by turning it around when closing, solidly made, USB-C, light-weight, beefed up video and still operations, latest processor and sensor (IV) same as XT-4 (same image quality). This should have been the upgrade from X-E3 (Sorry, X-E4…!). With the added IBIS, one can use non-stabilised lenses - particularly of interest to those that use non-fuji older, high quality but much less expensive used lenses (Nikon, Pentax, Leica, etc)

The PSAM dial works fine and is an intelligent and better use of smaller real estate of upper deck of a smallish camera like X-S10 (or even the E series earlier). It also maintains usability for lots of folks who handle not just Fujifilm line but a mix of several brands even interchangeably during the same project or travel etc. Reduces information clutter and confusion to have the standard PSAM configuration. If someone wants to fiddle with speed and f-stop, M is fine with the two finger dials front and back.

Manufacturers should focus more on the ease of operating these wheels so that they have wider usability by photographers with different finger sizes and finger strengths. The knurling, thickness and positive but smoother mobility of the wheels is important. S10 is good on those but not perfect. Also, the on off switch can give some trouble to folks with numb fingers (mild neuropathy, winter, gloves) and should have been more prominent. Often the current one makes the release button a bit difficult to locate by feel (needs practice and familiarity to incorporate the camera as part of body image ;-).

Minor gripes about the ISO and Q buttons! Should have been a bit larger (higher, thicker) and one of these should have been smooth and the other a bit pointy for differentiation by touch! The joystick should have been beefier and stick out a bit more for maneuverability. If the E3 could have that, why not the pricier S10? E3 joystic is way better and I assume the T series too. The D dial with quadrant never worked well for me in any brand of cameras so far! Joystick is way better. Some reviewers gripe about the joystick press not centering the focus point. Can be done easily by pressing the Back button. No big deal! [RTFM, reviewers!!]

I find the low-right side placement of the play button (E series) always better and natural (right handed person talking...!). Moving it to upper left edge makes for inconvenience. The lower-right placement makes review between shots easier by pressing with the FREE right thumb! Probably left-handed folks might find the upper-left current placement more convenient. BUT with the vari-angle LCD open and in the way, I still think the right-lower placement would have been better for the play button!

Love the GRIP, but could Fujifilm not have used the thicker, bigger battery instead? Would have improved the number of shots and video-lengths per charge! And why still UHS-I? I suppose Fujiflm did not want to keep big brother (XT-4) and mid-brother (X-S10) any closer (marketplace strategy!) and create sibling jealousy

I am not going to even touch on the CONNECTIVITY HORRORS associated with this and other fujifilm cameras. The camera remote app needs more WORK. Keeps aborting too often and is clunky and slow to reconnect to wireless so often.

Fujifilm should REMOVE the FIRMWARE UPGRADE option from the APP. I shall never risk using the camera remote app and finicky connectivity to ever upgrade my camera or lens firmware

I am not greedy! I can live without WR even though some of my lenses are WR. Rains are for other photographers to run around and shoot in, while I enjoy their monsoon-masterpieces from my comfy Lazy Boy recliner with a hot coffee or coco warming my hands and innards!Losing the C-M-S front switch is creating too much anguish in many. Not me! The functionality is ALL there and right within reach!!

Picky folks (typically pro reviewers who are used to T3 and T4 viewfinders and larger crowded pixel counts would not and do not find the S10 LCD and EVF ideal (these are NOT), but for a eye-glasses wearing hobbyist -- the S10 EVF and LCD (vari-angle!!) are extremely fine. It is the sensor that matters after all and the processor, AND the X-S10 does not skimp on those
