I just aquired the maxxum 7D and two lenses at a next to nothing cost. Interesting, it's old chronologically bit still very young with only a few thousand clicks. BUT, it wasn't working very well until I gave it a few whacks with my hand then, like magic, it works perfectly.

Careful. This was the first interchangeable lens camera with IBIS.

Very fragile IBIS.

If its not broken, then its possible to lube that system a bit to make it work and keep it working.

There might be still some specialists that can do that.

Usually, the kinds of things in cameras of this era that get "fixed" by a whack don't benefit from lubrication. The problem is usually "sticky" magnets - aperture, shutter, and/or mirror release magnets that are stuck latched, probably due to lubricant from elsewhere in the camera that has vaporized and formed a layer in the gap of the two latch pieces.

I have that info directly from repair guy that specializes on KM and later moved to Sony.

IBIS of KM7D can get stuck, which is why whack helped, but its temporary solution, which with each next whack will eventually cause IBIS to die, permanently.

And it gets stuck, cause IBIS itself isnt cleaned and then relubed, which is basically one only way to prolong its life.

All KM7D die eventually due design. Considering its design faults, its rather amazing some work (mine does too, well one of them).
