Re: Fujifilm X100V (2020) vs Sony Rx1 (2012)

I sold my RX1RII a while back ago and I still miss it a lot. It has terrible battery, poor ergonomics, and not dust and water sealed.

However, I do find the image I got from it quite pleasing.

1. The bokeh is rather smooth, some Fuji lens' bokeh looks a tiny bit nervous (a recent example on dpreview forum: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4610052)

2. The transition from in focus to out of focus is rather natural. It almost feel that the subjects is melting into the out of focus backdrop. Many other high end lens may give you a feel that subject can be cut and paste from somewhere else into a blurry background.

3. Very good close focusing capabilities.

In all practical measure, I think X100V is probably the right choice, its lens is updated, focus fast, have many new film simulations to play with, an optical view finder if you are tired looking at a screen all the time, etc. Although I do feel a lot of remorse selling my RX1RII. If Sony do not release a new version, I will probably have to buy it back at some point.

Some close options, I think Fujifilm GF 45mm f2.8 is really really good, not too big and heavy (35mm f2.2 equivalency, but GFX bodies' IBIS is like magic, I can easily hand held for 1/4 of a second with out too much problem)
