I've never owned an E1, but my brother has a couple, which he loves (and still uses from time to time).

No question, the E-M1x is in the same category as far as ergonomics are concerned. It just feels right, controls are perfectly placed for my hands, and with the built-in grip, is a very nice size, especially with the 12-100, 40-150, and the 300. I would say that as far as feel goes, I prefer it to my E-M1 MK III. The slightly larger size just means a little more distance between controls and buttons, which is very intuitive in use.
