Scotty, I'd be ier if it cost in AUD the face value of the USD price, but I'm saying it's just a power-pack.

S. That is a good idea, especially for in the field. Sure it would add bulk to the system, but... For about-the house/town use I think the power supply would be handy as well. So, that says I should look to getting both.

Now at some stage I guess I'll have to send it off to Sigma Japan again. - The 2nd time in about 2 years. It's a cheap enough repair at about 110 AUD, but only 2 years???!!! - A let-down, TBS! And it was a 2 month turn-around then, so who knows now...

Idea: look into some cheaper power-supply option from the local electronics store. It's just the pin configuration I'm not sure of.

atom14,

I reckon any power supply with an Input of 100-240V, 50-60 Hz and an output of 9V......3A would be ok. The connector is a standard 3.5mm with a centre of 1mm. The centre is Positive (+).

S

Great job, S, but a slight caveat.

At 9V, the in-camera regulator would get warmer than with the Sigma SAC, especially significant if the regulator is of the analog type and not pulse-width modulated.

Boring Ted-numbers for, say, 1A @ 5V after the regulator:

((9-5)*1)/((7.5-5)*1)=over double the heat dissipated=over double the temperature-rise ...

Just interested in the technology.
