The M50 is a great camera for serious (from stills photos) time lapse shooting. Although it has an internal time lapse function that gives 2K or 4K movies very easily, for special shooting you need to shoot stills and even better raw. So, for controlling the camera i use this intervalometer app an my android phone : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.booman.intervalometer It connects easily with the m50 by Bluetooth. For the more creative part of the job now, this program is one of the best : https://lrtimelapse.com/ You need to use it with Lightroom. You need a version compatible with the raw files of m50 or if you have an older version you can convert the raw files to dng with Adobe converter or use jpg files. Lastly with the electronic shutter of m50 (although limited) you can shoot thousands of 24mp stills (both raw and jpg) without worry that you will wear out the mechanical shutter.

Thanks, it hadn't occurred to me that there might be an intervalometer app.  But I don't have an Android phone.  I'll have to search for a similar app for the iPhone.
