The problem is most people are using software on top of the OS. Some programs will work perfectly. Some may have serious issues. Many are going to be in between.

Any program working on 10, works on 11.

32 bit programs can't run on Windows 11.

Are you sure?

This from a quick search...

Windows 11 will come only in a 64-bit edition, unlike Windows 10, which has been available in both 32- and 64-bit versions. 32-bit applications will continue to run and work on Windows 11, but devices with a 32-bit processor will not be able to install the operating system.

You are right. I went through the Mac transition, where 32bit apps were dropped. I thought Windows was going through the same process. Thanks for the correction.

I have a few legacy programs that are 32-bit.

They show up in Task Manager... Details... Architecture... as x86, while 64-Bit are shown as x64.

The label x86 is for historical reasons (referencing older CPUs), and there's a few other x86 surprises, such as...

  • BingWallpaperApp.exe
  • GoogleUpdate.exe (etc.)
  • MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe
