The Z5 has the clear advantage of the larger sensor. But, the basic kit lens included with it is a 24-50mm, basically wide-angle to normal, with no telephoto. It is also available with a 24-200mm, at a higher price.

The XS10 is available with several different kit lenses, all with greater range. The best of these, the 16-80mm, is equivalent to 24-120mm on a full frame camera. More than twice the telephoto range of the Z5's kit lens. The XS10 also has better videography features, and additional lenses are less expensive.

The decision for me would depend on whether my budget included the 24-200mm lens for the Z5.

A Nikkor Z 24-120 f4 has been announced at $1100.
