Apologies for such a long quote.

It is interesting to note recently in the thread it has been implied that those who report they find overall (though not in all respects) Z is better than F - are misleading other posters

Nikon will be bringing a "full pro body" into the arena with high fps, big battery, stronger build quality, more versatile AF, provision for no black out high fps shooting - and subject to confirmation a high MP sensor.

For those who can use these features from Nikon - it is perhaps more important to Nikon users than a D5 or D6 - as right now there is no full pro ML body on sale from Nikon.

Thom Hogan recently made the point that for a high proportion of shooters a Z50 and 24-200 is all they need.

For this type of photographer I agree the Z9 will bring little to the table of stills photography.

There are plenty of Nikon photographers who have a need for more capable equipment than a Z50 and 24-200 - and Nikon will soon address this need.

I believe that the "pro" or "pro-ish" bodies from Sony and Canon, bring something to the table that I could use on things that move. The Alpha 1 and R5 look, very very good with some attributes you cannot get (either by omission from the manufacturers or not possible in DSLRs) that I would be interested in. The Z9 should fit nicely in with those two.

However, if we all were honest, Nikon has brought nothing to the table to date in Z mount that is fit to use for anything that moves.

And they never "locked me in to Nikon" with what they built. I would prefer to move to Sony or Canon simply for the mess Nikon left behind with f mount. It will actually cost me nothing to move to either one of them, as I accumulated A LOT of gear by buying and flipping gear packages, so I have little into it compared to what it's worth.

So the Z9 would have to be well above the Canon or the Sony for me to buy one. Just a bad taste in my mouth. And that's the problem the Z9 brings with it. It's not an upgrade path for most Z6 and Z7 users. It's unlikely to be good enough to convince any measurable amount of people to move from Sony or Canon, still likely less than what would go the other way.

Something for very diehard Zee mount owners to cling to, but not industry changing.
