When I’ve visited Africa my main objective has been photographing birds so by far my most used lens was my 500mm f/4 and TC’s. I don’t think my trips are typical though. I’d imagine your best bet would probably be an R5 or R6 with the RF 100-500L. I’d definitely have two bodies with me. I know it’s not likely but I’ve been on trips where cameras have failed and having a backup is really important, especially because there’s rarely a camera store in the area, much less one with a camera that you probably would want. Since you have the 6d I’d guess that’s your backup camera so it might be a smart move to have a lens that can work on both of your cameras. Maybe something like the EF100-400 mk2 and 1.4x iii would be a good bet.

I don’t know how useful the 600 or 800 f11’s would be but the 24-70 or maybe 70-200 would be a good second lens to have, especially for the gorillas.
