I’d like the following in any Fujifilm camera, not just in the X100:

  1. An improvement to the digital teleconverter mode to use cropping rather than upscaling, so that the JPEGs are straight crops and the raw files are either cropped (as per Ricoh’s implementation) or full-sized with the crop applied in metadata (as is the case when, for example, #shooting the X20/30 with a non-native aspect ratio).
  2. Options to set fixed focus at infinity or a configurable distance (again as per Ricoh, who allow any aperture and a variety of snap focus distances as well as full-button snap). Or a simple zone focusing mode, controlled by the ring, like the old Olympus Trip.
  3. The ability to use the joystick directions as four customisable functions when “push to unlock” AF control (or “off”) is selected.
  4. The ability to set ”auto” H/S tone values based on the level of contrast that the camera detects in the scene—which is not the same thing as the DR modes.
  5. The ability to assign “touchscreen on/off” to a function button.
  6. The ability to turn noise reduction completely off, not just reduce it. (Or at least luminance noise reduction—personally I like to retain all luminance noise but still like to get rid of chroma noise.)

Thing is, they’re all just firmware (though zone focusing could benefit from a “ZF” position on the focus mode control).

As for hardware, stabilisation is always handy, as is improved dynamic range.
