Tilt-Shift Lenses: Some Questions

What are they good for? Absolutely something?

So I ended up having a knee jerk reaction and got myself a PC Micro Nikkor 85mm 1:2.8 tilt shift lens. I bought it because it had a 1:2 macro and it was tilt/shift, two things I didn't have and wanted.

I have had two days with it now, and honestly its a fine lens but, doesn't really fit any of my needs?

Primarily I am a hobbyist nature/landscape photographer. My hope was that the shift function would work well for taking pictures of tall tree's but 85mm seems a bit too long of lens for any of this.

In short the Question is, outside architecture is this lens really worth the money? Am I better off getting a lens more specific to nature/landscape or macro?
