it might be time to get a calibration device for your monitor.

I've been using what used to be called a Gretagmacbeth Eye One Display Two for many years with my "ancient" NEC2690 WUXi monitor. Both are holding up well.  Spectravision software reminds when I should recalibrate my monitor.  I don't do it as often as I probably should!

How the brightness of your screen is set has a lot to do with how your onscreen images will compare with what you see in your camera.
