even better are mobile apps like protonmail, where if you and your recipient have a protonmail account, the mail is end-to-end encrypted, or they have a non-protonmail account, it allows mail to be easily encrypted with PGP

I have never used encryption, so don't know how to use it, but Aqua Mail supports end to end encryption (aes-256).
