Distortion lines with R6 and Sigma 150-600mm C EF

I got some distortion using my Sigma 150-600mm EF Contemporary using it on my R6 at the beach the other day. Hook on, with a meh UV filter, which hadn't caused issues in previous shots. Bright midday with a lot of glare; I often shoot without a UV but it was windy and the lens was getting salt spray on it. The problem was balls with a line in them as noted in the crops below. Lots of bright spots in the surf and even kelp have these double lines, even in some shots of the moon on its edge.

I suspect the filter, but I'm not sure.

Here are the examples:

Distortions as noted.

More distortions above his left hand and the crest of the wave behind.

Note lines in the kelp behind the bird's head.

The show pretty much just in highlights, although the kelp wasn't that bright. Not in bird feathers though. No post work other than maybe a profile and some cropping.

Canon EOS R6
