Oct 27: New camera announcement confirmed?

The Olympus refurbished sale is selling the E-M1X for $1300. WHAT!!!

That's cheaper than used prices. This refurbished sale ends on Oct 26, one day before their much-hyped announcement on Oct 27.

With Sony publishing the specs for their new Four Thirds sensor, it's obvious that OMDS and Panasonic have had it for a while. Panasonic is coming out with the GH6 as we know.

It would be reasonable to believe that OMDS wants to sell more E-M1Xs before the announcement, perhaps because they expect demand to curtail significantly after Oct 27th.

Since their next camera will be a conventional design like the E-M1 ii/iii, it would be cheaper to manufacture than a E-M1X like design. Which means that the E-M1iii will remain price-competitive versus the Mark iv, but the price difference between the X and the Mk iv won't be as substantial.

All this makes me think that Oct 27th will be when the Mark iv will be announced.

Also known as the OM 1D ... which is a stupid name, considering that "OMD1" would have had better brand recall and sounded less like a Canon wannabe.

Just my thoughts.
