Canon 70d after 2 weeks.

Hi all,

I purchased a canon 70d for wildlife ( mostly bird) photography. These are my thoughts after two weeks. The lens I’m currently using is the canon 75-300m. The lens isn’t that great, but in a month and a half, I’ll be getting the sigma 150-600 contemporary.

pros of the camera.
Good shooting speed, 7fps.
easy to use, good dial placement
great easy to use menu system.
good that I can use back button focusing

good autofocus.
Autofocus is accurate, and fairly fast. ( it’ll probably be faster with the sigma.)

good shutter speed( up to 8000 for flying subjects.)

cons: depth of field preview button location  is in such a terrible spot I can’t use it, and why can’t I customize that?

Other than that, I really haven’t had any issues. The zone AF tends to jump a little, but the single point does very well.
the iso: in good light, I won’t go past 1600. If I must, I’ll push to 6400( with noise reduction in PP).
