I actually have tape on that wheel because it was turning all the time. The pics look good on the camera screen, but darker and not the same once I put them on the computer.

Regardless of what you see in the EVF, if you press "Disp" on the back of the camera until the histogram shows on the screen you will see a graph of your exposure.  If there is no part of the mountain on the right of the histogram you picture may be too dark.  If it peaks very high your images will be overexposed with burnt out highlight areas.

You can adjust the mountain view of the histogram by turning that EV wheel to add more light or take some away.  That wheel, for me, is a treasure and very quick and easy to use.

Suggest you get a copy of one of the two excellent e-books to help you learn to not only navigate the RX10 iv's extensive menus, but more importantly why you should make changes to your default settings, among the most important of which is what focus setting to use.  I do a lot of bird and small animal photography and I've found "expand flexible spot" to work best for me.

I have many, many cameras and lenses and find the RX10 iv one of the most enjoyable and satisfying to use because of it's huge zoom range and beautiful image output.
