I gotta give another vote for the D500 if AF is the major thing the OP is looking for. In terms of noise it splits the difference between the 7200/750 so you'd lose about half a stop but the keeper rate is drastically different.

The D750's AF is no slouch even with fast action like circus aerial performances but the D500 gives me a ton more to choose from. The first time I rented one and went through my normal culling process at the point I'd normally be down to my final slots I wanted I had 2-4x as many that met that level.

I have had good success with my D750 as well as my D500 for action shots:
