Actually, there might be … a grain of salt here. The unicode character U+2124, ℤ, is used in mathematics as the set of integers.

And bingo, there's both a nifty logo (which presumably Nikon can't patent for all use cases, since there's prior art), typographically developed, contained in every (better) scalable outline font as ℤ, and there's a numbering scheme. 5, 6, 7 and 9 are integers.

OK, admittedly, the latter part is nonsense, I've not yet seen fractionals used for camera models.
