Re: One small step for the M50 (Mark II)

In other news, the M50 Mark II + 15-45 did Charleston, charming place (again; last time was with Golaith aka EOS R + RF 28-70 f/2L) Battery life held up fine.
The 22 pancake didn't see much action. I think I may have a bad copy, I haven't been posting shots of it due to it's poor performance, even with DLO application. I was quite impressed with the 22 on my former M6 Mark II. Dunno if it's the M6 Mark II is a better platform for it (it is IMO), or what if it's a poor copy or what the deal is. It's probably going back but I'm not in any rush.
For as much as I harped on Canon when they did the firmware-only upgrade of the M50 Mark II, I'm beginning to agree with them; having excellent autofocus (and advanced metering) is important. And the form factor of the M50 is just right. And for the target audience's budget etc, it's a win all around. Sometimes it's easy to overlook the obvious that the original M50 is a solid camera and anything added to it is icing on the cake.
Apologies for lack of samples from Charleston, I just opened DPP4 on my older MacBook that I'm typing it on, it's just no match unless I have patience which I don't have the time this morning. My newer MacBook is bricked; courtesy of Apple's EFI/OS concurrence. That's a VERY technical discussion regarding how Apple protects things with Netboot / signature trusts / EFI. It peeves me though as Apple essentially locked the door and threw away the key as they don't want you running older OSes (Mojave). Anyhow, more samples later I guess.
SOOC, Small JPEG. These could use some love when my main computer is back online; default NR, really can wash out colors at non-base ISO. Post-processing is always better in terms of ultimate image quality.
Very nice. Looks like you have a decent copy of the 15-45. I find it's a very useful lens when you want to go minimal. Too bad about that 22 though. Maybe see about an exchange?
I really like carrying my (M6ii) + 15-45, with hood in ready position, in the little LowePro Adventura SH 100 II on my hip, with the 22 in the handy little pocket on one side, and a couple of batts on the other side. Very minimal, but very powerful.
Regarding the (so-so) colors, what Picture Style do you have set? And I've got to tell you I REALLY love DxO's colors over DPP's. Just a nudge there.
Enjoy your M50ii. I've always said the "software upgrade" was worth it!
