Ink for the 7800

Oh yes I see what the first poster said. They are not selling ink for the 7600 anymore. That means the 7800 will follow suit soon. Now I am happy I didn’t buy the 7800 after all.

You are probably better off not buying a printer as old as a 7800, at least unless it works perfectly, is really cheap, and comes with a lot of ink.

However, I would not worry too much about ink for the 7800 being discontinued soon. The 7800 uses the UltraChrome K3 inkset, which is what a huge number of printers for many years thereafter used, except that the 7880 (and its siblings) got a new "vivid magenta" ink. In other words, of the 9 inks for the 7800, at least 7 (maybe even 8, not sure about the light magenta) of them are identical to the inks for the 7880, and I want to say also for the 7890. Conversely, the 7600 (and 2200, 4000, and 9600) used an older type of inks that AFAIK no subsequent-generation printers used.
