70-350mm sensor coverage, sharpness of raptors

Here are some photos from a raptor rescue event, and one much farther away from another day.  It shows the increased sensor coverage with close-focus and perhaps sharpness.  When going light-ish weight, its nice to minimize extra lens volume/weight that doesn't even hit your sensor while still having a longer focal length.  It's only 1,328g with the hood on the A7RIV and you get 40% to 125% pixel bonus over APS-C, more bonus at shorter focal lengths and closer focus.

The image cast on the sensor isn't circular.  Are some of the lens elements not circularly symmetric?

Example Common Crop Ratios FF Coverage with Close Focus on A7RIV at 350mm

Bald Eagle

Barred Owl

Golden Eagle

Screech Owl?

Zone Tailed Hawk?

Far Eagle on Smoky Day, 4x5 crop has 37.35 MP
