Sigma 24-105 EF repair

Hello all, I dropped my Sigma 24-105mm zoom and it broke at the mount. I’m pretty handy at DIY repair so I was able to super glue it back together. Only thing is that there was a ribbon cable broken. The lens is completely operational… aperture, image stabilization and focus. But I can’t help to think that that flex cable must do something. Does anyone here have any experience with servicing these lenses and might know what the ribbon cables does. Its the flex cable that has a screw mounting it to the lens. I’m thinking a ground or something. Any thoughts would be appreciated
