The dreaded Star Adventurer poor graticule illumination - Mod2
2

When you use the Star Adventurer with the Declination Plate in situ, the supplied illuminator is so far from the graticule that it just doesn't illuminate it.

Even when mounted directly on the scope the illumination is pathetic to say the least so I initially MODIFIED THE LIGHT  to increase its brightness, which works fine directly on the scope but once plugged into an adapter to go through the Declination plate, again it is too dim, too far from the graticule, so MOD 2.

I removed the LED from the device and put extended wires in its place and mounted the LED down the bottom of the tube and it works a treat, I think, haven't tried it in real time yet.

Illuminator mounted on the Declination extender.

Extended wires having removed the little plastic light thing........

New position of the LED

Resultant illumination which of course is still adjustable via the control on the unit.
