Media Harbour at night - A6600
14

Here some pics from a recent outing at the Media Harbor in Düsseldorf, Germany. It's an old harbor converted in the 1990s to a modern business district. A lot of new and modern buildings emerged here then, and even if the original concept - to concentrate especially media businesses - didn't really work out, it became a very well populated district, and a quite attractive one in the evenings with its many bars and restaurants.

I did some photography there two days ago - around sunset and into the night.

#1 shows the lower part of the harbor - on the left one of the old harbor cranes, not used anymore, but left there for historical and decorative purposes. On the right a bunch of the mentioned modern building - with a few historical ones in between. It's a hand held shot, 1/30s at ISO 640:

#2 shows a more frontal view of the buildings you saw already on the right in the previous pictures; this time it was already a bit darker, so the tripod came out (as for all following pics). A 20 second exposure was used for a smooth appearance of water reflection and sky:

#3 is a view towards the upper end of the harbor, opening into the Rhine river; in the center the TV tower, in the background behind the bridges you can catch glimpses of downtown Düsseldorf. 13 seconds at f5.6:

#4 shows the top of the "Innside" Hotel - a building already presented in pictures #1 and #2:

#5 shows the staircase between a pair of two high rise buildings you can identify at the right border of picture #2 - the right one of them is the Hyatt Regency Hotel:

And the last one looks between those two buildings towards other modern structures in the "second row" behind the harbor - using a reflection of a shallow water basin:

Pictures #1, 2 and 5 taken with the Samyang 8mm/f2.8 fish eye, the others with the SEL1655G.

Hope you like them!

Phil
