How does sensor based PDAF work exactly?
1

For example, imagine a car speeding exactly towards you, and it's changing position so fast that between each scan of the whole sensor, the car is already out of focus until that scan is done. Is there any way you can get a in focus shot in this case?
I'd guess the only way to get even a single in focus shot would be to scan the sensor faster, or increase depth of field.
Or can the system get some kind of a prediction in that case? The subject is moving towards the camera with such velocity, so by the time we scan the sensor, it'll have moved this much, so let's pull the focus where we "guess" it will be by then?
