A tad soft in the corners at 70mm end, near perfect at 200mm

My only criticism of the lens is that with my copy (and another I tried), the corners at 70mm and at minimum focal distance were like mush. It may have just been a bad batch as they had similar serial numbers.

In practice I don't ever shoot in this manner so it is not a problem for me.

I, too, returned my first RF70-200f2.8L due to terrible performance in the corners at 70mm. I wrote about it and posted test pictures here: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/65055550

The replacement RF70-200f2.8L was vastly better but not "perfect" in the corners. At 200mm (basically about 135mm), it is as sharp as the RF100f2.8L. It is still a tad soft in the corner at 70mm and wide open but not bad. I showed a test picture of the replacement lens here compared to the bad one: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/65171061

Don't get me wrong, I have the whole F2.8 trilogy and the RF100f2.8L and RF100-500, and I would say overall, the RF70-200 is the sharpest of the lot.  But it is just good and not near-perfect at 70mm.
