Re: C-RAW gives no love for DLO...

Thanks for the link. My hunch is that the article is simply wrong, given the fact that I can't find this claim supported anywhere else (even DPP's documentation, which specifically calls out M-RAW and S-RAW as not supporting DLO, but makes no mention of C-RAW) and the fact that it definitely does improve sharpness in my testing. I guess a controlled test for DLO on C-RAW and RAW files is in order.

Canon Asia is an official channel for Canon. I highly doubt it’s wrong. Example: launch days they have (Canon) launch marketing material. They even spell out it’s C-RAW if you follow their link, not a typo or mistake. They’re referring to C-RAW prim and proper.

The implication makes sense; some of the data thrown away by compressing may be necessary for the algorithms for CFA or AA reverse corrections for example. I could see that being a hang up; lack of points of data necessary for reverse algorithms.

I gather DLO still works, but it’s benefits are diminished.

Again, would need to chart test to truly determine impact. It’s probably minimal. But it’s not zero which was the belief.
