Hindsight is one of those things that's 20-20. It's too bad we don't have it at the time of large purchase decisions.

Just want to throw in hindsight, the Canon Power G5X Mark II is in my opinion, an excellent family shooter in terms of use case.

Why?

Simply put, vs the competition, it has reach and high quality 4K that set it apart. This is in addition to wonderful handling, SOOC output, capable AF, fast lens, etc etc. But those elements of 4k and reach in my book make it a better family shooter than my existing G1X Mark III and the G1X Mark III is a cut above most other point and shoots, as it should being a flagship.

These elements above put the G5X ii on my short list for a capable travel camera (remember traveling?) I have a trip to Morocco booked for 2022 and the G5X ii is my top choice right now. My last Canons were the SX50 HS and the S100, both long gone. I really don't want to carry even a M4/3 kit on that trip.

Where the G5X II falls short?

Resolution.

More resolution isn't important to me as I no longer print any images.

It's nice to see people discussing the G5X ii in this forum. I don't understand why there isn't more love for it - or maybe users are out there shooting more and talking less. A good thing, too.
