Re: Olympus 100-400+MC14 compared to 300+MC20

I should have added that I already have the 300 and the converters, and much of the time the 2x is on it. However, there are times when it is inflexible, and I want to zoom out quickly because something comes towards me or a bird lands on a branch nearer than the one I was watching. Also, I wondered whether being able to zoom out might make it easier to locate the bird in the viewfinder, zooming back in only when I have located it. Hence wondering whether I would be disappointed if I got the 100-400 to use alongside the 300. I was assuming that the 100-400 + 2x would be a step too far, but from what I have read was unsure about the 1.4.

There is no way I could justify spending £6,500 on the 150-400, however good it is.
