X100V not very well weather sealed
10

I went to Niagara Falls yesterday and went on the maid of the mist boat ride. I have a black pro mist filter on at all times and even with the heavy mist and splashes of water, my X100V took it like a champ with no issues. After getting back on dry land and walking around, I noticed the inside of the filter was fogging up. I took it off and dried it then put it back on. It kept fogging up and I kept cleaning it for the next half hour or so before it finally went back to normal. I really should have taken this as a warning that the filter was not creating a tight enough seal but I stupidly decided to continue using it on the cave of the winds tour. This was worse than any rainstorm but it kept clicking away….until it finally wouldn’t turn on anymore.

Getting back to the car, I immediately opened the battery door and noticed the battery was wet. I peered through the viewfinder and there were droplets of water in there too. I removed the filter and there were droplets of water in there too. Even my SD card was wet. I know it’s definitely my fault but I am disappointed at the complete lack of sealing on the battery door and the port door. There are no rubber gaskets at all. I’m still on vacation but I will definitely send it in for repair. I’m hoping it can actually be repaired. My buddy’s D850 survived just fine.
