Olympus 100-400+MC14 compared to 300+MC20

The 100-400 with 1.4 converter gives 560mm, compared with the 600 of the 300 with 2x converter. Very similar (at least in theory if the 100-400 really does go to 400). The max aperture is just half a stop difference. So has anyone done a comparison of the image quality of these two combinations, and how would the autofocus be on an E-M1.3? Maybe someone knows of a thread that covers this. I have in mind birds that are a considerable distance away.

Of course, part of the reason the 100-400 would be more versatile is that it could also be used with the MC20, but I am assuming that would reduce the quality, not least because holding it still would be more of a problem.
