The simple question is, do we realy need that, and if so, why? Looking in the viewfinder does realy give a great view, specialy for people who wearing glasses. For widlife filming I suppose it is only a handicap but still see people carrying arround with it. I'm wondering what people think in general of the use of this extension.

The only thin I'm looking for is to make manual focussing easier/ more controlable/more vissible. Does a fieldmonitor help in that case?

tnx in advance.

I bought one a few months ago for wildlife video {bif video specifically}, after previously researching the possibility of getting a separate electronic viewfinder that i could place near to the pivot-point of my video head, as i find the rear screen of my camera to be too close for my eyes to focus on {without glasses}, when focusing manual telephotos.

My viewfinder has the diopter adjusted to my eyesight, so i can easily switch from hand-held VF bif use, to field-monitor tripod-mounted bif use...thereby removing the need for adding and removing glasses. That said, i do have to squint a bit to see the monitor clearly {without glasses}, but the larger size {compared to the cameras lcd} makes this doable for me.

My monitor is used for this one purpose only {bif video, with one specific lens...a 300mm f4.5 ais}, and i would find it a hindrance to use it very often for other purposes, or with my main workhorse telephoto.

For that reason, i bought a basic monitor, which actually has many more features than i need {it is used exclusively as a manual focusing aid}, but the screen is not the brightest....and i do have to angle the screen very carefully to avoid glare, from my viewing position etc.
